Conference Speaker Profile
From 1979-1981, Pastor Wayne Schmidt helped plant Kentwood Community Church (KCC) under founding pastor Dick Wynn, becoming senior pastor in 1981. Over the years KCC developed into one of the flagship churches in the Wesleyan denomination, becoming increasingly multiethnic as it reached the increasingly diverse greater Grand Rapids, MI. KCC grew to more than 2,600 attendees each weekend while planting 10 other churches with many unique approaches to ministry. Dr. Schmidt has addressed churches and conferences around the globe and in nearly every district of The Wesleyan Church. In January of 2010 he became the first Vice-President for the newly formed Wesley Seminary at IWU, providing strategic and operational leadership in shaping a revolutionary way to prepare ministers.
